I wanted to highlight Apple’s subtle way of enhancing their data presentation. The iGoogle themes that change according to the time of day is another great example of this. What can you do to make your design feel more “alive”?
Also, if you know of other examples, please drop them in the comments. Thanks!
Remember those super slick mockups from a while back for what a Starbucks + iPhone integration might look like? Well, follow this link and check out what they might look like in action - its a nice peek into what a well-executed retail app on a phone might look like.
Big bonus points for a little [...]
Philip Elmer-DeWitt explores an argument by a Swede named Peter S. Magnusson about how he sees a huge missed opportunity for Apple with regards to the iPhone. This goes beyond the run-of-the-mill wishlists (copy and paste, MMS, user-replaceable battery, etc.) that have been bandied about since the launch.
This particular omission is a new angle and [...]
The music video as exploration of logos, typography and graphic design. The beat is pretty bangin’, too.
ps: love the audio “inside” the HBO-ish logo

Peter Merholz of Adaptive Path does a great job distilling all the talk around mobile design down to one concept that, despite its simplicity, often gets overlooked (and overcomplicated).
People’s inclination is almost always to try and do too much with a mobile experience than their users will ultimately be willing to learn and [...]
OMG! Me too! I just got my copy of Transit Maps of the World and I love it. If you share that particular interest, give it a look.

The best top to a To Go coffee cup I’ve ever encountered was found at the awesome Grey Dog’s Coffee. No longer are you faced with a “no turning back” approach to opening your coffee. Instead you can open and close your coffee at will should you come across a bumpy patch on your way [...]
Back in 2004 when Dennis and I were getting dodgeball off the ground we always saw having a downloadable application as somewhat of a Holy Grail - not the Holy Grail mind you, but we thought it was not only pretty cool, but also “important” that we have one.
Once we found ourselves in a [...]
On our way back from Tulum, Karen and I got delayed at the Cancun airport for about four and a half hours. This resulted in having the “opportunity” to eat our first ever meal at Bubba Gump’s, as well as learn the layout of the airport backwards and forwards.
After some time wandering around trying [...]
Incredibly clever way to turn limited storage space into a highly functional (and whimsical) bookshelf.
The staircase is both the way to access the bedroom and a perfect place to store books, movies or CDs. “With a skylight above lighting the staircase, it becomes the perfect place to stop and browse a tome,” says Levitate’s Tim [...]
