About

by Alex Rainert on January 22, 2008

The genesis of this site is two-fold. The initial inspiration came out of the experience of my Take One A Day photography project in 2007. Taking photos at such an accelerated pace not only got me more comfortable with the camera but also it allowed me to capture the details people often miss in their daily travels.

When I was thinking about what project I wanted to do the following year (2008), I thought it would be interesting to apply that same attention to detail to the design that we encounter on a day-to-day basis. This mostly manifests itself in the photos, screenshots, etc. that I discuss on the blog as well as features like Design in the Wild – interactions we have every day, both good and bad – and what we might hope to learn from them.

The second driving force was an interest in discovering and discussing innovation in design. I’ve always been someone who thrives on information and being hyper-aware of the interesting stuff that’s going on around us.

All that being said, I also plan to keep the structure and direction of this site flexible and fluid, enabling me to occasionally stretch the boundaries in terms of what I talk about. I appreciate each and every one of you along for the ride.

I have some ideas for features I’m excited about fleshing out in the coming year but am always open to more. Please send any thoughts or suggestions to ux@everydayux.com.

About me
I’ve spent my entire professional life thinking about, designing, building and using digital products and I collaborate and consult with others – individuals, companies, startups, agencies – on design and strategy for mobile, social and emerging technologies at Tinker Studio. Drop me a line at hello@tinkerstudio.com if you’d like to work together.

If you so choose you can find a detailed account of my professional life over on LinkedIn and you can read my sub-140 character thoughts on a wide range of topics at @arainert.

I live in Brooklyn, NY with my amazing wife Karen and our dog, Sasha. On the side, we maintain our own blog, Team Rainert.
