About Me
Update: As of February 1st, 2011, everydayUX is going to become everydayUX Morsels and the content will focus on the links that I’m sharing from around the web. I will, however be blogging much more frequently than I had been over at www.alexrainert.com on a much wider range of topics including, but not limited to, design and innovation. I really hope you’ll join me over there or subscribe to the RSS feed if Tumblr isn’t your jam.

The genesis of this site is two-fold. The initial inspiration came out of the experience of my Take One A Day photography project in 2007. Taking photos at such an accelerated pace not only got me more comfortable with the camera but also it allowed me to capture the details people often miss in their daily travels.
When I was thinking about what project I wanted to do the following year (2008), I thought it would be interesting to apply that same attention to detail to the design that we encounter on a day-to-day basis. This mostly manifests itself in the photos, screenshots, etc. that I discuss on the blog as well as features like Design in the Wild – interactions we have every day, both good and bad – and what we might hope to learn from them.
The second driving force was an interest in discovering and discussing innovation in design. I’ve always been someone who thrives on information and being hyper-aware of the interesting stuff that’s going on around us.
All that being said, I also plan to keep the structure and direction of this site flexible and fluid, enabling me to occasionally stretch the boundaries in terms of what I talk about. I appreciate each and every one of you along for the ride.
About me
I’ve spent my entire professional life thinking about, designing, building and using digital products.
I’m currently working as head of product at foursquare and thinking about how to make your mobile life better.
I have a small product development shop called Tinker Studio where I partner with others – individuals, companies, startups, agencies – on design and strategy for mobile, social and emerging technologies. Please note: I’m currently not taking on any new partnerships but will again some day.
You can read my sub-140 character thoughts on a wide range of topics at @arainert, you can follow my personal blog or, if you so choose, you can find a detailed account of my professional life over on LinkedIn.
I live in Brooklyn, NY with my amazing wife Karen, our daughter and our dog, Sasha. On the side, we maintain our own blog, Team Rainert.
