An interesting take on what Dashboard widgets could look like on the iPhone. I’ve always thought this was something that’ll be coming down the road (next major OS revision?) and I like the way the folks at Ocean Observations have sketched it out. Be sure to check out their other (some stronger than others) iPhone UI concepts over on YouTube, too.
What’s even more exciting is the way they’ve spec’d out a widget allowing quick access to various features (mostly network-related) that has seemed like a no-brainer since the first iPhone. Apparently, Apple doesn’t even give developers access to what they need to make an app out of this. Until they do, all we can do is feast our eyes on what could be:

For users with jailbroken devices, this is not an innovation but an app used on a daily basis.
It's called SBSettings (Spring Board Settings) and can be accessed at any time, no matter what app is running, by swiping the status bar.

I just don't understand why we need widgets. Barely anyone uses them now on a Mac, but now we need them on the iPhone? Wouldn't the ability to run multiple apps at once really negate this idea once Apple perhaps allows this in the future.
This seems like a PC thing. Complicating it with more ideas than it needs.
In praise the UX is fine and it works theoretically well. So great job on that.
