I’m a huge fan of our Harmony One remote (seriously, if you have a bunch of devices and a complicated setup, it will change your life) and I like to think that I have a pretty high tolerance for interfacing with a remote with the hopes that down the road, after all it set up, it will make our lives easier.
That being said, this new remote from ESPN feels like it could be a little much, even for the early adopter set. Also, while I see why they’re touting “no need for a PC” as a differentiator from the Harmony line, I actually think that’s something Harmony has gotten right – I’d much prefer to take advantage of the large PC screen to do my administering, rather than do it on the small remote screen.
As for the “internet browser with real time access to scores, fantasy info and TV listings for broadcast, cable and satellite…” do we really need to access the internet from every device in our homes?
Anyway, I’m curious to read some more hands-on accounts of people using (and setting up) these remotes. If you get one, drop me a line and let me know what you think.
