+ Design in the wild: AdMob’s AdMonitor

Real time ad serving visualization

The AdMob AdMonitor provides this a really neat Google Maps mashup showing how their mobile ad inventory is being served up in real time - geographically, on which handsets and on which carriers.

For something as relatively nebulous as mobile advertising still is for most, this kind of dynamic visualization of information is an excellent way to help people build some context around the idea and get a sense of its pervasiveness at the same time. I love the way they found a way to make their (most likely pretty boring) numbers come to life with this new approach.

Check it out here.
